In order to help our patients achieve a healthy a mouth,
as free of decay, crowding and gum problems as possible,
each patient will be advised to come in for a separate
appointment for specific instructions on how to avoid tooth
decay and associated problems. The instruction is thorough,
intensive and will serve to teach, motivate and inspire the
patient on the methods and value of good preventive care.
Areas covered include toothbrushing, plaque disclosing
methods, use of dental floss and a snack and diet review.
Patients in orthodontic bands will be shown how to use an
electric toothbrush.
A discussion of fluoride tablets, fluoride mouthwashes and
toothpastes will also be included. Follow-up appointments
to review results and reinforce the techniques taught will
be set up as needed. If preventive practices are properly
taught and included in the daily lives of our patients,
they will go forward to a future of good dental health.
